A superb option for young beach-loving visitors who don’t care about the hotel’s slightly isolated seafront location. The Old Quarter will still be there later, it’s old afterall – it can't move too fast.
Stay at W Barcelona
Shaped like a sail looking out to sea, nothing between it and the hidden party isle of Ibiza but shimmering blue sea. The W feels like an enclave of that iconic Balearic bastion of hedonism transplanted onto the mainland. Just like Ibiza the vibe here is young, the dress code is beautiful and the vibe is: relax, eat, dance, repeat. The W is hard to miss, its curving form – reminiscent of Dubai’s Burj al-Arab – makes it the most recognisable building on Barcelona’s beachfront. A beautiful building and setting for sure but thankfully the W’s offerings are far from just skin deep, a mouthful of Catalan magic from master chef Carles Abellan's Bravo 24 restaurant will attest to that.
Location
In a prime beachfront location, with uninterrupted sea views that other hotels would kill for. Beach addicts and those just wanting to laze by the pool will adore it. Hardcore sightseers may find the rest of the city’s attractions such as the Gothic Quarter are quite a trek.
Rooms
For vistas, the rooms at the W are unmatched in the city. Floor-to-ceiling glass opens up stunning images of either the sea or the city. The rooms themselves are nothing spectacular unless you cough up for the 2-bedroom WOW suite or the Extreme WOW suite which boasts 3 bedrooms and its very own Dj booth. Wow!
Who is it for
The young and the beautiful. Unlike the Hotels Arts nearby which caters to families and those with a little more vintage, the W is all about the young, hip in-crowd. Party-loving fashionistas will adore it.
Facilities & activities
Food and drink come in the form of four bars and restaurants, the Wave, Bravo24, and Salt and the Eclipse cocktail bar. There’s a fabulous and very photogenic rooftop pool, a further indoor pool, a gym with simply stunning sea views, and something you don’t see every day, a fully functioning recording studio – should the muse hit.
