Stay at the Daios Cove
It’s easy to lose track of time admiring the dramatic setting of this cliffside resort. Located in a natural amphitheatre, each of the five descending layers of this luxury getaway tumbles down toward a private sandy beach and all share exquisite views over Vathi Bay. This is the second-most expensive hotel built in Greece, and it shows. With a labyrinth of stairs and tunnels connecting the levels, taking time to explore the vast complex is endlessly rewarding. Guests – especially those with families – have no reason to ever think of leaving.
Around an hour’s drive east from Crete’s Heraklion Airport, along the winding coastal road. The resort is also just a short 12 mile journey from the fascinating isle of Spinalonga, home to both a Venetian fort and former leper colony.
If it’s waking up to a view you crave then a stay here won’t disappoint. Each room has a stunning view over the bay while even the standard rooms boast bathtubs and living rooms. Larger rooms and suites come complete with private plunge pools. While the top-end villas have two floors, a circular bath, a splash pool and a sauna.
