Stay at the Kokomo
The sound of silence. The luxury of space. The feeling of being cast adrift in another world, so far from the pressures and stresses of everyday life. Feel the white sand between your toes. Swim in an ocean with nobody else around. Indulge on this private island fantasy, where the villas are as exclusive and high-end as anywhere in the South Pacific.Kokomo really is an image of paradise. Just 26 villas and residences are spread across a large island, all with their own pools overlooking the beach. Watch the sunset from your hot tub. Lounge around and do nothing. But don’t think the Kokomo world is boring. We also love this retreat because it’s ideally located for a range of Fijian adventures, especially on the water.
Yaukuve Levu Island is in the south of the Fijian archipelago, far from the crowded tourist islands in the north. It’s set on the Great Astrolabe Reef and you can dive, fish and snorkel directly from the beach. From Nadi International Airport it’s a 45-minute seaplane or helicopter flight. Kokomo’s private airport lounge is a very welcome touch after your long flight to Fiji.
First impressions here are about space. The villas are more like homes, with vast indoor and outdoor areas, a private pool, hot tub, outdoor stone shower, enormous bathroom and more. With floor-to-ceiling windows these sanctuaries make it feel like you have the entire South Pacific to yourself. Both the sunrise and sunset villas are great, so that choice depends on what time you plan to wake up. Two- and three-bedroom villas are ideal for families, with the larger four- and five-bedroom residences designed for multigenerational family holidays.
Who is it for
With its exclusivity, space and opulence, Kokomo is perfect for anyone who wants a quiet beach holiday, revolving around their villa. The quality of Kokomo is reflected in its price, which can be prohibitive for some.
