Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island

A long awaited new resort helping revive the Seychelles as a destination. Outstanding marine life and restaurants, nice villas for families, and overall a great choice for a short stay.

Stay at WA Platte Island

Finally a new island resort in the Seychelles. Platte is one of the Seychelles’ more remote escapes, a unspoiled coral atoll with a shallow lagoon and lush, green island. The marine life is incredible and easy to experience. Dining options are outstanding and the service is already up to a top standard. It's a small island which suits a short stay, particularly for families who will enjoy the pool villas.

Location

A resort on its own atoll in the outer islands, 20 minutes by the resort's plane from Seychelles International Airport. It's very tranquil, you can't see other islands or even other boats, from anywhere on the island.

Rooms

50 pool villas, ranging from one to five bedrooms, potentially accommodating up to ten guests together. They're beautifully done, with private gardens and pool, plus outdoor showers and chill out areas. Villas are scattered all around the island, although note they're set back a little from the sand. Some family villas have open beach and ocean views. However, most are made private by the greenery, so they're more like garden villas on the beach. Each villa has a personal concierge and this service was excellent during our inspection.

Who is it for

This is an excellent option for three to four nights, for both couples and families. It's a coral island, so the landscape is different to the larger granite islands the Seychelles is known for, making it a good contrast to another island resort. There are really nice activities to fill a few days, especially the marine life and restaurants.

Facilities & activities

The shallow lagoon is filled with turtles, rays and baby sharks, all visible from a paddle board or even when walking around the island. Platte is fantastic for these marine encounters, especially for children and less confident swimmers. There’s also turtle patrol, nature camps for kids, coral gardening, yacht excursions, an excellent spa, and a lot more happening around the resort. The dining and drinks are superb, at the main restaurant, farm-to-table vegetarian based Moulin, and Creole meets Latino Maison des Epices.
