Stay at One&Only Reethi Rah
Coconut groves, white-sand beaches and lagoons. We’ve rarely seen an island as beautiful as this one in the Maldives. Massive overwater villas are another highlight and there is a lot to do on a long holiday here. Mostly we love the convenience, as the island is only a 50-minute speedboat from Male. Shallow ocean water means it’s great for young kids to swim. Other travel agencies sell One&Only Reethi Rah as a “celebrity hangout.” In reality, celebrities visit all the very best Maldives resorts in high season and this is among them. It’s Ideal as a first or last stop on a multi-resort Maldives holiday.
Location
This is one of the few top-level resorts accessible by speedboat or luxury yacht, just 50 minutes from Male. Or it’s a 15-minute seaplane flight. The downside is that there are other islands and boats around, so there’s no feeling of being on the edge of the world surrounded by ocean.
Rooms
The enormous size and quality of the villas helped attract many celebrities to the island, around a decade ago. They are huge, well spaced out and very well appointed. Some have private pools. If you demand privacy, get a beach villa. Overwater villas are spectacular but their outdoor spaces don’t offer any privacy from the other villas or beach.
Who is it for
A resort that lead the way as the place to see or be seen, Reethi Rah is still a top choice in the Maldives. Great for couples and families, especially the combination of a large villa and a large island to explore. The shallow waters are convenient for little ones.
Facilities & activities
We love how you can do as much or as little as you want. Like taking an e-bike around the island to one of the 12 beaches. All the watersports. Romantic beach picnics. Spa treatments. An excellent KidsOnly program for families. Gastronomy is generally really good as well.
