Highly recommended for underwater world lovers, this excellent resort has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Despite the kids club, we mostly recommend it for couples.
Stay at Anantara Kihavah
Indigenous forest hangs over powdery white beaches at the remote Baa Atoll. Here lies Anantara Kihavah, with some villas hidden amid the trees, others hanging over the Indian Ocean. The design is clean and contemporary, along with some original touches, like a glass-bottomed bath peering down into the ocean below. All are open to the sounds and smells of nature. Come here mostly for downtime. But there are also some excellent adventures to be had around the atoll, including snorkeling with manta rays, stargazing with the Maldives’ largest telescope, and underwater wine tasting.
Location
It’s a beautiful 35-minute seaplane flight from Male to the Baa Atoll and the island of Kihavah. Touching down on these waters is an inspiring start to any holiday.
Rooms
The island’s 80 villas vary in size and location, from beach pool villas amid the greenery to overwater villas. The most premium are sunset overwater pool villas. All are very high spec.
Who is it for
Special family villas and the Thiththi Boli Kids’ Club make this a good choice for families. There’s more than enough space for romance and honeymooning couples as well.
Facilities & activities
You’ll find great snorkeling on the house reef and a water sports centre for exploring the atoll. Three good restaurants are complemented by the sunset-facing Sky bar and an underwater fine dining restaurant.
