Location
Very remote. It’s a 300-kilometre 75-minute seaplane flight from Malé to Soneva Secret, the only resort in the Haa Dhaalu atoll. This privileged and tranquil location is wonderful for wildlife and it’s not uncommon to see whales and dolphins pass by, but you don’t see other islands or boats.
Rooms
Only 14 villas, some scattered around white sand beaches, others raised above a turquoise lagoon and only accessible by boat. There’s also Castaway, the Maldives’ first ever fully floating villa. These villas blend effortlessly into the natural environment and are built with sustainable materials. Each has a massage and fitness room, vast master suite, adjoining bedrooms for children or friends, a private pool and water slide. The roof is retractable, so you can sleep in your villa, directly beneath the nighttime stars.
Who is it for
People seeking a tranquil and private holiday. Soneva Secret can suit both couples and families, but mostly it suits people who don’t want to encounter other people, so don’t come for a party.
Facilities & activities
Each villa has both a barefoot guardian and barefoot assistant, curating the program individually for every guest. On most mornings that will start with breakfast in the villa from the villa’s private chef. Dining in nature around the island is encouraged, then there’s a castaway dining tower and wine cellar accessed by zipline. The best activities are nature based. Soneva Secret is a top choice for snorkelling and diving, as you can explore reefs and areas without other people. Don’t expect the widest range of facilities. Remember, this is a small island focused on personalising your experience.
