We love the creativity and fresh design of this outstanding new beachfront property, from our favourite Mexican resort group. It’s accessible and private, exotic and comfortable, in a brand new destination.
Stay at Etéreo
A turquoise bay wraps itself around mangroves and jungle. Silence. Ah, the Caribbean. And somewhere new. Colour abounds, the interior design so fun and fresh and contemporarily Mexican. There’s space everywhere, from the beach and spa to the Mayan-inspired restaurant. Nature dominates, as floor-to-ceiling glass doors make a seamless transition between indoors and out. This is a new destination, a different Mexico. Welcome to Etéreo.
Location
Etéreo, Auberge Resorts Collection, is the first property on the new Kanai development on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. It’s only 40 minutes by road from Cancun International Airport, but it feels a million miles away from the Cancun vibe.
Rooms
Revered artist Manuel Felguerez did the design work and his vibrant style means studios and suites packed with unique furnishing and local art. All the studios balance indoor and outdoor living and most have ocean views and plunge pools. Suites are larger and come with a butler service. The best rooms are on the top floor and feature private sky decks and pools.
Who is it for
While there is a kids club and family pool, the atmosphere and style is more suitable for couples and groups of friends. It’s also a very good option for a two-destination holiday, as Etéreo’s distinct style can balance nicely with other resorts in the Riviera Maya.
Facilities & activities
The spa is excellent and the pristine private beach will further enhance your relaxation. Walk over floating mangrove bridges, do some stargazing, lounge around the pool and soak up the sun. There’s nothing in the immediate vicinity but Playa del Carmen is close by. And you can use Etéreo as a base to do experiences all over the region.
