Wonderful for couples and wonderfully away from the rest of the world, this resort might be pricey but it’s absolutely perfect for a special occasion or trip. We find that it’s a paradise for underwater lovers, with superb diving and snorkeling. We love the architecture and design. Oh, and the spa? Wow - we’d spend every day there if we could!

A far-flung paradise, remarkably secluded and perfect for romance, this is one of the very best Maldives resorts. Think huge overwater villas, a decadent spa, vibrant marine life and that feeling of escapism you deserve.This is a mostly unexplored and undeveloped part of the archipelago, yet the style is chic, upmarket and elegant. And the overwater villas make you feel like you’re on the edge of the world, ideal if you’re on honeymoon and seeking absolute Indian Ocean seclusion.
Location
A remote location is part of the appeal, with the southern Dhaalu Atoll a 40-minute seaplane flight away from Male International Airport. It’s an undeveloped area home to stunning marine life.

The three-bedroom John Jacob Astor estate is one of the biggest overwater villas in the world. In general, the massive overwater villas have everything you can wish for, although you can also book entry-level garden villas and beach villas as well. All villas have private pools.
Who is it for
Children may be welcomed but this is a resort for couples, with its mix of Robinson Crusoe style relaxation and exploration.
Facilities & activities
Vommuli is home to the largest and best spa in the Maldives, along with an excellent watersports centre - you may see orcas, mantas and hammerhead sharks in the area!
