EliteVoyage CEO Petr Udavsky recently explored Nepal, including Kathmandu and a scenic flight to Everest. Could Nepal offer the luxury and comfort our clients demand?
Here is the incredible video and photos.
An Expedition in Nepal
Petr spent three days in the capital city Kathmandu, then three days in the mountains, travelling with Serandipians president Quentin Desurmont.
The full report of Petr’s Nepal experience will appear in Edition IV of Explorer magazine, which is released in early September.
Up Close With Everest in the Himalayas
Of all my travel experiences, having breakfast in front of Mount Everest was singularly the most impressive.
We departed at sunrise by helicopter, first flying over Namche Bazaar, then alongside jagged peaks and towering summits.
Four of the world’s six highest mountains are located here: Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oy and Everest.
We flew alongside the mighty Khumbu Glacier and Everest Base Camp.
Before touching down on remote mountain with an uninterrupted view of Everest.
What a setting to eat breakfast!
It’s also possible to explore these mountains without being a mountaineer or doing a scenic flight. We flew to Phaplu and stayed at Happy House Lodge.
Here we visited a monastery.
Where young monks showed us how they lived and cooked lunch for us.
Exploring the Culture of Kathmandu
My highlight in Kathmandu was discovering the incredible Dwarika’s Hotel!
It’s the best hotel in Nepal and I met Richard Gere here during my stay. Both the hotel’s quality and service are exceptional. This was my room.
There’s so much colour on the streets of Kathmandu. And so many interesting people.
We visited many historic temples and pagodas.
One of the most impressive places was Boudhanat – one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and the world.
And getting to meet monks and learn from them in the temples.
In Kathmandu we did a one-hour scenic flight in an ATR aircraft. What beautiful views! Kathmandu is a layover destination for visiting anywhere in Nepal and also Bhutan. If you only have one day, I highly recommend this scenic flight.
Exploring Destinations Less Visited
Nepal isn’t a new destination. But it’s known as a destination for backpackers and mountaineers.
A big part of my job is to visit destinations like Nepal and see if they are also comfortable and luxurious enough for our clients.
Nepal offers adventure wow experiences. Nothing could prepare me for the scale of the Himalayan mountains.
I loved discovering how Nepal also offers a lot of comfort and luxury.
Look out for Edition IV of Explorer magazine, for Petr’s full trip report.
