Exclusive Rome Holiday for Art Lovers

Private after hours access to the biggest Van Gogh exhibition of the year, at Palazzo Bonaparte! We just created this Rome weekend for our art loving client.

Sublime dining, private art, insider experiences and a holiday personalised to a very high degree of exclusivity.

This is what your weekend in Rome could look like.

After Hours Private Visit to Van Gogh’s Exhibition at Palazzo Bonaparte

The Sower is one of more than 50 iconic paintings on show

The biggest and most important Van Gogh exhibition of the year, the unique story of the most famous artist in the world.

The Van Gogh Exhibition at Palazzo Bonaparte runs from 8 October 2022 to 26 March 2023. It’s centered around 50 works from the prestigious Kroller Muller Museum collection, including his infamous Self – portrait.

EliteVoyage has secured exclusive after hours access to this exhibition. It’s an entirely private exhibition viewing, led by one of Italy’s most respected art historian guides.

Van Gogh’s painted this self portrait with oil on cardboard. His famous The Lover is also on display.

The chronological story traces Van Gogh’s greatness through his masterpieces, from the dark landscapes of his youth, to figures like the potato pickers representing the artist’s search for the truth of the world.

This rare exhibition marks 170 years from Van Gogh’s birth and also refers to the places he lived, from Holland to Paris, Arles and Auvers-Sur-Oise.

Witnessing his vastest collection of masterpieces is one thing. To do so in complete privacy, is a new experience entirely.

Stay at Rocco Forte Hotel De Russie

Secret Garden at Hotel de Russie

Rome has some exceptional hotels, like Rome Cavalieri, J.K. Place, Hotel Eden and the top suites of Baglioni Rome.

For this trip we picked Hotel De Russie because it’s the very best in Rome city centre. It’s ideal when you only have a couple of days so need to be central to everything. Plus, the service is really exceptional and the lack of a swimming pool won’t be a problem in February.

Vibrant, sophisticated and sleek. Hotel De Russie is where art deco meets ancient Rome, between the Spanish Steps and piazza del Popolo.

Every Meal is Important on Holiday, Especially in Rome

When your holiday is only for a weekend, it’s sacrilege to have any meal that couldn’t be considered extraordinary.

Restaurant reservations are an important part of what we do at EliteVoyage. Our trusted local partners guide us on the best restaurants now, from three-star Michelin dining to small neighbourhood eateries.

For this Rome weekend we booked our clients dinner at La Pergola, Rome’s only three-Michelin-star restaurant. Such a prestigious restaurant made sense after the exclusive exhibition experience on Friday.

Restaurant Imago is on the sixth floor of Hassler Rome.

For Saturday lunch we went for traditional pasta, with a table on the terrace of Alfredo Alla Scrofa, where the legendary Fettuccine Alfredo was invented.

After a full day of experiences on Saturday our clients wanted a restaurant close to their hotel. Hotel de Russie has a very exclusive restaurant Le Jardin, but it’s where hotel guests can enjoy their breakfast, so it wouldn’t be a new experience for them.

Instead we booked Imago in the Hassler Hotel closeby. Contemporary Roman cuisine served as part of a “blind” tasting menu, by one of Italy’s young rising culinary stars. For something very traditionally Roman we often recommend a cooking experience with a Michelin-starred chef.

More Exclusive Experiences in Rome

If you’ve never been to Rome then some experiences are hard to ignore. Like visiting the Vatican Museums and experiencing Michelangelo’s majestic Sistine Chapel. After hours access of course – it’s completely different when you avoid the daytime crowds.

The Rome Catacombs and Crypts are an alternative insight into the Eternal City and the frescoes of San Clemente Basilica are a treasure hidden in plain sight, amid busy central Rome.

Our clients had visited Rome multiple times, so we needed something new and different to impress them.

Did you know there’s a luxurious residence beneath the Trevi Fountain, with swimming pools fed by the fountain’s water? Built in the fourth century, Vicus Caprarius is now an archaeological museum. We privatised a visit so our client can see the other unseen half of Trevi.

We also arranged an exclusive visit of Palazzo Colonna, one of Rome largest and grandest private palaces, a jewel of Roman baroque architecture still lived in by the Colonna family.
