A superb option, very reasonably priced for the standard of service, amenities and stylish surroundings. A great option for couples or seniors looking to relax and re-energise in an elegant, historic yet distinctly modernist environment.
Stay at Lido Palace
If love at first sight works with buildings, then you’d have to have a heart of stone not to fall head over heels when catching your first glimpse of the sublime Lido Palace. Winding along the curving roads that follow the banks of Lake Garda just whets your appetite for the delightful moment the iron gates swing open and see the architectural delight of your home for the night.Overlooked by the Riva del Garda’s craggy mountains the 1899 Art Nouveau building has been reborn in glass and steel. It shouldn’t work but it does, oh so well. The juxtaposition of abstract art, hip furnishings with the period details continues throughout the hotel. And everywhere, through every floor-to-roof window that view of the lake. Yes. This will do nicely.
Location
The Lido sits in an enviable spot on the northwest tip of the lake, right in the heart of the picturesque town of Riva del Garda. Guests can stroll through the hotel’s lavish grounds and out onto the town’s lakefront promenade. Verona Airport is an hour away.
Rooms
Just 42, including 12 suites. Expect sleek minimalist design, with dark wood complemented by bold splashes of colour. The rooms have heated floors and some come with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows.
Who is it for
Grown-ups. While children are welcomed this uber-stylish hotel is very much tailored toward couples and seniors.
Facilities & activities
Two restaurants and a bar. Two pools, an indoor heated one separated cleverly by a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows from the outdoor one. Lush manicured gardens. A gym and spa with steam room, sauna, salt room and a chromatherapy suite.
