Castello di Casole, A Belmond Hotel, Tuscany

Elegant and refined with enough distractions to almost make guests forget that the wonders of Tuscany lay outside the boundaries of the estate. A great option for couples but families may prefer the castle next door – the Castiglion del Bosco.

Stay at Castello di Casole

Arrive via a cypress-lined avenue to a glass of bubbling prosecco, step over the threshold into a childhood fantasy and take up residency in your very own medieval Tuscan castle. What’s more to add that the phrase “Tuscan castle” doesn’t envisage. It’s everything you imagine it to be but with an added heated infinity pool, oh and two sublime onsite restaurants serving mouth-watering cuisine from the finest ingredients the rolling hills of Tuscany have to offer.

Location

A medieval castle, with a quaint hamlet of farmhouses, encircled by vineyards, woodland and farms. It’s just an hour to Florence and around 40 minutes to the Volterra and San Gimignano but the likelihood is you will lose track of time exploring the vast estate.

Rooms

39 lavishly decorated rooms and suites housed in the castle itself and the adjacent hamlet. The more modern Oliveto suites benefit from contemporary design and stunning views over the valley below.

Who is it for

Honeymooning couples who want to wake up in a castle surrounded by the romance of the Tuscan countryside. A good choice for families but not quite as good as the nearby Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco.

Facilities & activities

A glass-tiled infinity pool. Two restaurants sat in the castle’s courtyard, creating a fabulous village square feeling. A small but luxurious spa housed in the wine cellar. A modern gym. Horse and bike riding, bird watching and language classes. Pizza-making is a hit with families. No golf course which may be a factor for some.
