Four Seasons Junior Suite

Recline in sublime luxury on a private terrace with nothing to distract you but the unbroken panorama of Mt Etna and the glistening Ionian sea. Sip an aperitivo and feel the muse run through you. Time to write that novel you’ve been putting off? Or time for a hot stone massage?Starting from the summer of 2021, the Four Seasons is bringing its usual swagger, style and spectacular service to a rocky promontory overlooking the old-world charm of Taormina. They’ve taken the already grand San Domenico Palace Hotel – which has been playing host to the great and the good since it opened its doors in 1896 – and imbued it with a new lease of life. The hotel closes for the winter season, and welcomes its guests back in April. We’re excited to see the results. It’s bound to something special.

Location

Housed in a former 14th-century monastery and convent on an outcrop overlooking the medieval rooftops and of Taormina – the jewel of Sicily's east coast. The hotel is about an hour from Catania Airport and 3 hours from Palermo.

Rooms

Many rooms are converted monks’ cells, most come with views over the verdant gardens and sea below. We highly recommend the junior or executive suites, as who doesn’t enjoy panoramic views from a private terrace with a plunge pool?

Who is it for

Couples and families, especially those who wish to have all the seclusion and privacy of a grand hotel but be close enough to town to take in the sights and nightlife. Beach addicts may wish to look elsewhere, the Belmond Sant’ Andrea for instance.

Facilities & activities

A 21-metre long clifftop infinity pool with stunning vistas of the sea below. Two restaurants – one helmed by award-winning chef Massimo Mantarro – and a poolside lounge bar. The Botanica Spa with the usual array of luxury treatments you’d expect. The high standard of personalised service Four Seasons for which the Four Seasons is famed. Fabulous gardens set amongst two cloistered courtyards.
