Bodrum Castle Tour

Sitting proudly on a peninsula in the centre of the harbour, Bodrum Castle is the city’s most prominent landmark. Once a bastion of military might, the fort was transformed post World War I into the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology. Providing an award-winning home for the ancient shipwrecks found throughout the Aegean Sea.

The fort’s formidable name gives away its origins – The Castle of St. Peter the Liberator of the Order of the Knights of the Hospital of St. John of Rhodes. Built originally as a stronghold on the mainland by the Knights Hospitallers whose headquarters sat on the nearby island of Rhodes. The bastion didn’t last in Christian hands for long and quickly absorbed into the Ottoman Empire, where it remained for another 400 years.

To unlock the hidden mysteries of both the castle itself and the myriad treasures it houses, a guide is invaluable. Our professional English speaking guide will collect you from your hotel at 10am, ferry you to the castle in the comfort of a Mercedes VIP Vito, and return you to base at 4pm.
