Stay at CERVO
If you take sustainability to heart, the CERVO is one of the best hotels in Europe. It’s our favourite hotel in Zermatt. Over 90% of the establishment’s energy is generated by geothermal and solar sources. Food and other supplies come from within a 150km radius, or else from sustainable providers beyond.Ski if it’s winter, hike if it’s summer, and stroll around the village of Zermatt whatever the season. Then return to the calm atmosphere of your lodge, to relax in the spa and admire the splendid views of the Matterhorn.
Location
The CERVO sits on the slopes above Zermatt. It’s 10 minutes away from the Gornegrat railroad, and the hotel lift links with the Sunnegga funicular.
Rooms
There are three lodges here, with 5 to 11 rooms in each. Two are five star, one is four star. The rooms’ modern decor is inspired by the lodge’s theme: nomad, alpinist or huntsman. If you are in a large party, you can book a whole lodge. The architecture and design is very ecological, plus they are one of only two Swiss hotels with Hastens beds.
Who is it for
Though welcoming to all, we recommend the CERVO especially to adults who will appreciate the hotel’s commitment to sustainability first. It’s not recommended for travellers expecting an old-world type of experience of service. But it’s not a bad choice for families.
Facilities & activities
The CERVO is ski-in ski-out. Choose from Italian or Swiss cuisine in winter, or else the vegetarian-based cuisine of the East-inspired Bazaar Restaurant. The hotel staff are ready to suggest the best ski slopes or hiking trails for you. You can also book packages like the Ashram Mountain Retreat, Exploring, and Private Spa Special. And there are many places to escape to in the hotel grounds.
