The Alpina Gstaad

Gstaad is not dramatically challenging for expert skiers, but it’s good for those less experienced and for family skiing. If you do choose to ski or hike in Gstaad, The Alpina is a good place to stay.

Stay at Alpina Gstaad

This hotel’s contemporary decor incorporates many traditional Swiss elements, like stone fireplaces, wood-panelled walls and wooden ceilings and furniture. The result is a cozy and comfortable Swiss ambience — just the place for a restful evening after a day’s skiing or hiking in the mountains around. You will also be able to relax in a Six Senses spa, and enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine. If you’re here in summer, there’s an outdoor pool with mountain views.

Location

Private jets and helicopters can use the small airport nearby in Saanen, 6,5 km from the hotel. The closest international airports are Bern, Geneva and Zurich.

Rooms

The Alpina offers 56 one-bedroom suites and rooms, all of them including a balcony or terrace with beautiful views, and a fireplace. You can also choose a three-bedroom chalet or the Panorama Suite, which are perfect for larger parties.

Who is it for

This is a good choice for families as well as couples — there is a kids’ club with many outdoor activities.

Facilities & activities

If you’re here for skiing, you can use the Gstaad ski area. The Alpina is not ski-in ski-out, so you need to take a shuttle. The spa is the only Six Senses spa in Switzerland — 1000 m² which include an indoor saltwater pool, jacuzzi, saunas and Turkish baths. As for restaurants, both the Sommet and the Megu have a Michelin star, and in winter you can also dine on Swiss cuisine in the chalet-like Stubli.
