Actually, this hotel on Lake Worthersee, in sunny Carinthia in the southern Alps. Carinthia is Austria’s most autonomous state and it feels different to the rest of the country. Especially in summer.
You’ll find a traditionally summer tourist appeal, from golf courses to medieval towns, clear waters for swimming and mountains for exploring. Plus a lot a privacy. There’s really not much else here, except this adult-focused resort.

Directly on the lakeshore and recently renewed, we love this hotel’s sense of both past and present. At one glance it’s a country estate from yesteryear. Yet most of the architecture is modern, best exemplified by the spa.
At 3600 sqm, the Acquapura SPA is the place for slow days. It has its own exclusive beach club with a heater lake water pool, private spa suites and saunas, a water relaxation room with a cinema, and is host to yoga and meditation retreats.
Rooms and suites have also been revitalised recently. For the past we especially like the Turm suites, located in the rounded castle turrets (the Seeblick suite is also in the historical castle). The grand deluxe rooms and junior suite deluxe are in the modern building, with bathrooms framing the historical view.
