Bergwiesenglueck – Boutique Chalets for Your Austrian Ski Trip

You don’t always need much for an amazing ski holiday. Friends and family. Fresh snowfall. Diverse runs down the slopes. Perhaps a private spa and sauna in the evening. Definitely a comfortable place to stay.

Plan My Next Family Holiday

That’s why we love these ski chalets at Bergwiesenglueck. Sure, we know many opulent ski chalets all across the Alps, but you don’t always need a marble bathroom and designer wine cellar.

Bergwiesenglueck, Tyrol

Designer ski chalets usually work best when you’re a large group and anticipate spending a lot of time in your accommodation. The choices are limited when you’re a family of four.

And the expense can be unnecessary when your focus is an active holiday on the slopes.

Introducing Bergwiesenglueck

Located in the immediate vicinity of Tyrol’s three top ski areas, Bergwiesenglueck is a small boutique resort comprising 12 private chalets. A central building offers the hotel amenities, like a restaurant, children’s playhouse, brewery and rooftop pool.

The wooden chalets are cosy and homely, their design inspired by traditional Tyrolean hay barns, then updated by using quarter rods rather than complete timber logs.

This clean design is almost a necessity to build on such a steep mountainside. With this building challenge comes opportunity. The views are fabulous, especially from the outdoor bath tub. A feeling of privacy is easily maintained as very little else can be built in this area.

Traditional, Private & Contemporary

Tradition continues inside, with the heavy use of wood, plus fabrics from the Steiner company who supply designers like Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

Yet the chalet’s feel contemporary. Two en-suite double bedrooms in the attic, with glorious vistas onto the Verwall Alps. A living room plus kitchenette and dining room on the ground floor, also a bunk bed for two kids.

Downstairs you’ll find a private spa with a glazed sauna and the covered bathtub.

While it’s not a ski-in, ski-out property, easy access to four different ski areas makes Bergwiesenglueck a great base for exploring Austria. In good conditions, Ischgl and Galtur offer the best skiing. When the weather is turbulent you have Kappl. Then there is Paznau for a day on groomed cross-country trails.

And it’s not just skiing. How about hiking in summer or autumn. Or biking?

Whatever the season, these private chalets will be exceptional value. You’ll get most of the benefits of a more expensive chalet rental, just without the opulence and price tag.
