This is our favourite beachfront hotel in Tenerife. One of the best things about it is that it’s right in front of El Duque beach. Unlike most beaches in Tenerife, which are black volcanic beaches, El Duque has lovely white sand.
Stay at Bahía del Duque
In a hotel modelled after a 19th-century Spanish colonial village, you can be sure of one thing — it does have a distinct character. It also has a lot more than that. You can expect flawless service, pretty much any kind of cuisine you like, and enough activities to keep your kids (and yourself!) entertained all the time.Generally Tenerife hotels are not as mind-blowing as some hotels in Greece or in Maldives — but here you will find fine quality for reasonable prices.
Location
Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque is on the El Duque beachfront in the town of Costa Adeje. It’s 15 minutes from Tenerife South Airport and one hour from the North Airport.
Rooms
Choose from rooms, suites and villas, some of which have private pools and butler service. If this hotel has a downside for discerning travellers, that might be the rooms, though — the decor is plain, and some rooms can feel dated.
Who is it for
Bahía del Duque is great for both families and couples, as long as you don’t mind the fact that it’s a big hotel, in the “resort village” style.
Facilities & activities
There are plenty of activities that can be organized for both adults and kids. The hotel has a tennis court, and two golf courses are a 10-minute drive away. There’s a kids’ club, five outdoor pools and 21 bars and restaurants. You can enjoy the scenic paths through the exotic gardens — and discover the magic of stars in the stargazing observatory.
