This small and beautifully curated hotel is a great counterpoint to Lisbon hotels from bigger brands. It’s discreet, unique, and very much a celebration of the city’s heritage. Definitely recommended for couples who want to feel the essence of old Lisbon.
Location
Perched on Santa Catarina hilltop, a famous place for watching the sunset. It’s a fantastic location for urban explorers as you can walk to distinct neighbourhoods nearby and are still not far from the city’s iconic attractions.
Rooms
Designed to maximise Lisbon’s lovely natural light, the 18 rooms and suites find a balance between glamour and modern minimalist functionality. Most will find the rooms a little boxy, so we recommend either an Arch Room with balcony or one of the suites. The two Royal Suites are showstoppers, rich in historic details like Azulejo tiling, exposed stone and arched doorways.
Who is it for
A romantic bolthole for couples who want to explore Lisbon at their leisure and really soak up the essence of the city. Not ideal for families.
Facilities & activities
This still feels like an 18th-century palace and there’s no space for a spa or gym. It’s more a property for guests spending a lot of their days out exploring. The rooftop is fantastic though, with a sundeck, small pool and recommended Suba restaurant, all providing 360-degree views over Lisbon.
