The Yeatman Hotel

A great choice for those of you looking to be in the thick of the Port tasting action, with Port cellars on your doorstep. Bear in mind the location is on a steep slope so it might not be suitable for those of you who don’t like a brisk, uphill walk.

Stay at The Yeatman

Opening the curtains of your front-facing bedroom at the Yeatman is less an everyday chore, more of an experience. Because just metres from your bed is the best view in the city. This is wine country and the Yeatman wants you to know it. Imagine sipping top-notch Port with the crumbling beauty of Porto set out in front of you before heading to the decanter shaped pool, or perhaps to the Caudalie spa where wine-based treatments await. Or perhaps down to a Michelin starred dinner complete with a wine list that stretches into the thousands of bottles. It’s not hard to see why this is our favourite hotel in Porto.

Location

Set on a steep slope (hence the amazing views) in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto’s over-the-river counterpart and home to all major Port house cellars. A short walk over Luis I bridge sees you into Porto city centre within 20 minutes. Bear in mind Porto is filled with hills and the location of this hotel is no exception, so there is a lot of walking to do.

Rooms

A clever design means every room faces the front with that incredible view of Porto coming in through huge floor to ceiling windows. Design is minimal and modern but with more than a nod to Portuguese traditions, from the famed tiles in the bathroom to built in bookcases lined with books on Portuguese wines.

Who is it for

Simply put, this is a wine and food lovers’ paradise kind of hotel. Even better, it’s kid friendly with interconnecting rooms, babysitting facilities and a kid’s club, which means your little ones can be entertained whilst you get on with the very important task of drinking Port.

Facilities & activities

How many wine-based activities do you want? There’s the Decanter shaped outdoor pool-with-a-view. The Caudalie spa with its grape based treatments. We can arrange visits to some of the most prestigious Port cellars nearby. And finally, there’s the Michelin starred restaurant dedicated to wine as much as food with weekly wine dinners and a wine list that stretches to 1100 local wines alone.
