The Oitavos Cascais

A fine choice for those who live and breathe golf. This is not the most extravagant hotel in the world but that is reflected in the price. Come for the sport and countryside, go elsewhere for unabashed luxury or city lights.

Stay at The Oitavos

The sun sets over the Oitavos hotel, the last of the light forcing you back inside after a day on one of Portugal's best golfing courses. Perhaps a chill out on your private terrace is in order, or maybe an evening stroll along the nearby Oitavos dunes, the sound of the Atlantic waves relaxing you as you contemplate today’s game.If you like modern hotels surrounded by pristine golfing courses where nothing matters other than the whack of the club and your handicap, the Oitavos is for you.

Location

Surrounded by that excellent golf course and flanked by sand dunes, this is a rural hotel easily accessible from the coastal resort of Cascais, less than an hour from Lisbon. It’s a quiet place where you’re more likely to hear the swish of a golf club than hordes of people, but that’s why you come here.

Rooms

Minimalist glass and steel cubes with open plan bathrooms. The decor is contemporary but not what we would call cozy. The rooms do however boast huge windows that flood the rooms with light and balconies and terraces overlooking the golf course and coastline beyond.

Who is it for

This is a hotel aimed squarely at golfing aficionados. Although children are welcome, under 16s are not allowed in the spa so it’s best to go elsewhere if you have children in tow.

Facilities & activities

There is a very fine spa with a vast range of treatments to help massage weary muscles after sessions on the golf courses. Golfing lessons are also available to help up your game and the hotel boasts two solid restaurants, one traditionally Portuguese, the other Japanese inspired.
