Top-level luxury and sustainability combine at this exciting new resort on the Fari Islands. It’s urban cool, biophilic designed, and can tailor to anybody’s needs. Opened in 2021 it’s highly recommended when your primary needs are complete comfort and relaxation.
Stay at Patina
The solitude of an ocean hideaway. The feeling of zen when you slip away from the everyday world. The exclusivity of coming first, to a new island resort which flips the tables on typical Maldives resorts. Sustainability is at the forefront here and it’s matched by a new-world approach to luxury, from the Brazilian biophilic design to the sheer level of choice. Whatever your island fantasy it can be catered for here, from the brilliant kid’s club to 12 distinct dining venues, wellbeing program to activities on land and water. It’s all topped off with world-class service.
Location
Being situated only 45 minutes by speedboat from Male is certainly convenient. However, Patina is not a lost island in the ocean. It’s an artificial island in a larger archipelago and there are many other island resorts nearby. While they’ve done pretty well at minimising the impact of these resorts on your ocean view, you don’t have the edge of the world feeling that’s so noticeable elsewhere.
Rooms
Bold, modern and minimalist. That’s the design principle of a resort that brings a biophilic flow concept to an entire island. 20 studios are located besides the Fari Marina Village, but skip these as they’re too small and not very private. Instead, opt for one of 90 villas with either a sunrise or sunset view. Every villa has its own large pool and this lovely transition (flow) between indoors and outdoors.
Who is it for
Come to Patina to experience the freshest interpretation of island luxury in the Maldives. Come as a family and utilise the fantastic kid’s club. Come for some of the best food on the islands and the forward-thinking sustainable approach. Then stay for the service, which is every bit as impressive as the striking architecture.
Facilities & activities
Patina trumps almost any island resort for food and drink with 12 dining options that complement and contrast each other. Multi-Michelin-starred chef Nick Bril helms a beach restaurant focused on nutrition and fine drinking. There are three food trucks, a breakfast bakery, Japanese and Nordic sushi counter, pus vegetarian restaurant only serving food grown on the island. Patina has more than the regular island spa and operates comprehensive wellbeing programs. Think sensory deprivation tanks and a global list of massage treatments. The array of activities and amenities is far too long to list here, but special mention must go to the kid’s club, quickly established as one of the best in the country.
