Stay at Linyanti Bush Camp
Linyanti is legendary. Lechwe splash past hippos in the lagoons. Elephant herds play in muddy marshes. Big cats hide in both the grasslands and the woodland. A mix of Chobe and Okavango, this is arguably Africa’s best private concession, for both wildlife and the exceptional camps. It’s wild but comfortable, exclusive yet down to earth, home to some of Africa’s most diverse landscapes and complex big game populations.
Location
Woodland, grassland, lagoon, marshland - Linyanti is unique because it has many different habitats. This supports a varied and abundant wildlife population. It’s located west of Chobe and north of Okavango, on a popular migratory route. You can only get here by charter flight and access to the 1200 sq km concession is exclusively for guests at one of Linyanti’s camps.
Rooms
All the camps are small and premium, in terms of price and quality. Savuti Camp is a straightforward camp with seven tented chalets on wooden platforms, best if you want to be centrestage in all the wildlife drama. DumaTau Camp is more chic, but for the best game viewing only stay here from June to October. King’s Pool is the most opulent, more like a hotel in the wild. All suites here have their own pools, which sometimes must be shared with elephants.
Who is it for
As a first-time safari, in fact, as the only safari you ever do, Linyanti is among the best places in Africa. Some safari aficionados return here every year for a decade. It really is that good. Which is reflected in its price. It’s definitely for people who want a detailed and immersive safari experience, not just to tick some animals off their list. Children aged six and over are welcomed warmly with a family room and Bush Buddy programme at Savuti Camp.
Facilities & activities
Game drives during night and day. Walking safaris when it’s safe, dependent on recent, nearby animal sightings. Mokoro canoe trips on the river. The guiding is exceptional and the concession is so big you can stay at two different camps and connect them with a flight. Wildlife sightings are extremely common around the camps.
