Explore Ichingo Chobe River Lodge
Elephants, dozens of them, splashing and playing on the riverbank. Hippos…everywhere. An African sunset and a sense of peace on Impalila Island. You are on a safari where the Zambezi and Chobe rivers converge, sleeping under canvas at the water’s edge. And water brings life in Africa. Except you’re not in Botswana. Ichingo Chobe River Lodge gives you a Chobe safari experience with the advantage of being in Namibia.
Elephants and hippos are the abundant highlights of being on the Chobe River. Along with everything that must come down to the riverbank to drink of course. The safari in Namibia is a lot cheaper than in Botswana, for a similar standard of accommodation. However, you can’t enter Chobe National Park by land from this side, only cruise along the banks.
Meru-style safari tents, with air conditioning, private decks and plenty of romantic touches. It’s like a hotel suite, except canvas means you smell and hear the wilderness. They have a family tent with two bunk beds so it’s a great place for families with children of all ages.
Who is it for
This is a relaxed, good quality safari option that’s easy on your wallet. If you want an action-packed adventure stay in Botswana. Ichingo Chobe River Lodge is best for a tranquil two or three days getting away from it all, but still seeing the big animals.
Amenities & Activities
The safari here is on the water, in small tender boats that move silently along the banks. This is amazing for getting up close with a variety of species, but not so good if you want different perspectives or the highest volume of animals (there’s not much to see on the game walks). Fishing for tiger fish and bream is also super popular here.
