Excellent. Right on a towering cliff in the centre of Funchal, Madeira’s capital. Shops, restaurants and bars are just moments away by foot. A 20 minute drive will see you to the airport.

Room sizes vary, so let us know what you’re looking for, but all feature large windows to let that beautiful Madeira sunshine in, as well as sumptuous linens and hand painted tiles in the bathroom. Think old world, British-style charm - warm and comforting.

Unless you’re a sucker for modern, cutting edge design - in which case look elsewhere - this hotel will suit pretty much everyone. Families are particularly welcome with Playstations and kids clubs to keep your young ones entertained.
Facilities & activities
The swimming pools are the stars of the show here. There are two of them, one freshwater with a pool deck with a view of never ending ocean stretching out in front of you. The second pool is seawater filled and accessed via a lift that takes you to ocean level, with direct access to the sea (bear in mind, this is a cliff face, so there’s no beach). Afternoon tea - a nod to the British history of the hotel - is famed across the world, then there’s the Michelin starred restaurant for lunchtime and evening feasts. A small but perfectly formed spa tops off the amenities nicely.
