Although not quite as breathtaking as the Yeatman, the Infante Sagres is a good choice for couples and adults looking for an intimate stay right in the city centre. If you love old school charm, go for it, but if it’s unabashed luxury you crave, you may want to look elsewhere.
Stay at Infante Sagres
Stepping foot into the Infante Sagres hotel is an experience in itself - if you like 19th century opulence, you’ve come to the right place. The wrought iron railings, the imposing chandeliers, the Portuguese tiled fireplace, it’s like heading back to a time when Porto was a thriving trading city, fuelled by Port. This is old school. This is charm. This is Porto as it used to be.
Location
As central as it comes. You’re in Clerigos, Porto’s hill-filled main neighborhood, with all the city’s main sights within a 15 minute walk.
Rooms
Although the hotel calls itself boutique, there are 80 rooms in this 19th century manor house. Refurbishment was finished in 2018. Rooms are quaint (sometimes small) and more modern in style than the 19th century feel of the public spaces, with plenty of light streaming in through the large windows.
Who is it for
If you’re a couple looking for a top-notch location and plan to spend most of your day out and about rather than using a hotel’s facilities, this will be a great choice for you. Families may require more facilities than the hotel offers.
Facilities & activities
Limited. This is an old manor house so there’s no pool or spa, but there is an impressive dining room filled with double height windows and a magnificent wooden carved ceiling, as well as a bar stocked with a good range of Ports (you’re in Porto, after all).
