Lech has been hugely updated for the 2021 – 2022 ski season.
This was where skiers in the latest Prada pantalones rode clunky surface lifts from a prehistoric era. Where you’d ski The White Ring, 22 kilometres and 5500 metres of descent, and freeze to your bones waiting for the 1970s double chairlift to go up Balmalp in Zug.
Plan My Ski Holiday in Austria
For this season expect a freshly future-proofed lift system. Plus you can still hit the entire Ski Arlberg on one ski pass, perfect if you prefer the tougher terrain of St Anton & Stuben.
Also expect brand new accommodation. We’ve found a collection of recently opened ski-in ski-out chalets on the slopes, all with amenities in keeping with Lech’s fashionable clientele.
Chalet Maia
Rooftop hot tub with mountain views. Tick. Interconnected en-suite bedrooms. Tick. Indoor pool and sauna? Lounge with fireplace? Chalet Maia is a charming timbered chalet ideal for families. Four double bedrooms are complemented by two bunk rooms for the kids.
Open-plan living is complemented by the wide open vistas. And with the private chef and butler you can avoid the town entirely should you wish. A private ski instructor can even ski your children back to the chalet to an on-site childcare service, giving you time for the 85-kilometre Run of Fame, with its 18,000 metres of descent.
Athena
Athena is a cross between boutique hotel and private chalet. We think it’s perfect for three to five couples sharing as a group. It feels like three individual suites, each with their own social areas.
So it’s easy to be private here, with two saunas and two steam baths, plus a larger hotel spa nearby included in the price, and the town just a five-minute walk away. But it’s still a group holiday chalet with direct access to the slopes. Athena is brand new and has an interesting vintage meets modern style.
Chalet Altius
Accommodating 22 people across two floors and nine bedrooms, Chalet Altius measures a whopping 1800㎡. It’s possible to book it in conjunction with neighbouring Chalet Adora, to sleep 30 guests in total.
We’ve rarely seen a chalet so well equipped: wine cellar with tasting room; cinema room; ice skating rink; 14-metre pool, sauna and steam room; hot tub with mountain views; huge open-plan living space with bar and fireplace. And of course the ski room, as the chalet is directly on the slopes of Ski Arlberg.
Other Ski-In Ski-Out Chalets
There are many more. It all depends on your party size and needs. We also know some great chalets that aren’t on the slopes, along with smaller chalets for just one or two families. And not only in Austria. Ask us about France, Italy and Switzerland as well.
