January
Top Destination: Caribbean Islands
The Caribbean is for winter beach holidays and there’s an amazing variety between islands. Culture, language and experience changes when you island hop through the region.
St Martin, Anguilla & St Barths is an easy first-time combination with an excellent choice of resorts. St Martin as the gateway island, Anguilla for the beaches, then St Barths for glamour.
Turks & Caicos and Antigua are interesting options for private island resorts. The weather is ideal throughout the Caribbean in January and it’s after the festive rush.
January is a great time to explore…
South Africa – It’s the summer season in magical Cape Town. Add on the winelands nearby then fly north to the Sabi Sands and Africa’s most luxurious safari. See this South Africa holiday combination in more detail.
Sri Lanka – It’s dry season across most of this underrated island, where a one-week holiday can combine beaches, elephants, mountains and tea plantations. This interview with Resplendent Ceylon founder Malik Fernando explains more.
Cambodia – Angkor Wat is simply majestic and worth at least three days, especially with the quality of hotels in nearby Siem Reap. Consider combining with Vietnam.

February is a beautiful time in Finnish Lapland, with warming and welcoming days. It’s a great option for the school holidays, something different to a usual ski holiday. And you can ski here too!
Statistics show that spring time contains the most clear nights and geomagnetically disturbed days, which means Aurora activity. And while it’s too cold for small kids, it’s big adventure for the older ones.

March is the best month for whale watching and king penguin colonies cover South Georgia island, although the emperor penguins have moved on.
It’s the end of the season and many ships have left the scene, so all landing sites are available. There’s better suite availability for the boutique cruises, with exploration by kayaks and helicopters part of the program.
December and January are considered the best months to visit Antarctica, but the seventh continent is becoming very popular. March is a rawer, quieter and colder experience. Read travel designer Michal Patek’s trip report here.

June is ideal for a lot of Italy, especially islands like Sicily. It’s a nice time to visit rural regions like Umbria near Tuscany, and still comfortable for exploring the cities. Plus the seasonal flights have started from Prague, making access easier.
June is the start of summer so expect al fresco dining and sunbathing. But the local school holidays only commence in mid to late June, so most of June remains less crowded than the rest of summer.

There’s more than Bali on this vast tropical archipelago. A lot more. Summer is the best time to go in terms of the climate, with optimal conditions across the islands.
Summer is when most people can take longer holidays and Indonesia requires time, at least two weeks for discovering a small variety of islands.
Bali combines neatly with Sumba and Lombok, along with more adventurous destinations like Flores and Komodo National Park.
July is the time to explore…
Dolomites – With Mediterranean beach destinations becoming hotter and hotter in summer, this year could be the time to swap sand for mountains and the beautiful Dolomites.

Top Destination: Faroe Islands
A wild and remote island destination in the north, one of very few places in Europe yet to be properly explored. Blissful in August, when almost everywhere else in Europe is crowded.
It’s a destination for lovers of the outdoors, all about wild nature, hiking, birdwatching, boat tours and fishing. Flight connections make it a nice combination with a city trip to Copenhagen, another cool destination for the summer months.
In summer 2023 we led an EliteTrip to the Faroe Islands by private jet and this trip report explains the local experience on the islands.
August is the time to explore…
Switzerland – Summer holidays in the Alps and around the lakes, serene and cool compared to the south of Europe during the busy August school holiday season.
Kenya – It’s after the long rains and around a million wildebeest arrive in the Maasai Mara fresh grazing. Combine this famous safari experience with a private safari in a concession in the Laikipea Plateau, a holiday explained in this safari report.

It’s a destination for couples and solo travellers that provides a complete immersion in another way of life, away from western culture and ideas, without giving up on comfort.

October
Top Destination: Japan
Spring time’s sakura, or cherry blossom season, is the famous time to visit Japan. It’s equally if not more beautiful to visit in autumn, for the momiji-gari season. And it’s not as crazily busy.
Falling leaves from Japanese maple, oak and zelkova trees transform the landscapes into vibrant shades of red and orange. Many cities and villages hold festivals to celebrate the fall foliage too.
Momiji-gari typically peaks in late October and November, but the longer days and slightly milder weather mean we prefer October. It could also be a great school holiday trip with older kids – read our guide to Japan for first-time visitors.
October is the time to explore…
Turkey – It still feels like summer on the Turkish coast in October, where the best beach resorts like Bijal offer a welcoming warm escape after it’s turned cold at home. Turkey in October had great feedback from our clients in 2024.
Piedmont – It’s truffle season in Piedmont, a beautiful and widely overlooked region in northwestern Italy. And it’s wine harvesting time in places like Barolo and Barbaresco. Go for a long weekend to Turin or Alba or spend a week exploring, as our local expert Barbara Cesario explains.
Australia – October is one of few months when you can enjoy good weather across all of Australia. It’s springtime, warming up in Sydney and the south, still comfortable in the north, Outback and West Coast. This interview with Steven Pleciak will help you imagine an Australia holiday.

November
Top Destination: Seychelles
Seychelles is back in vogue and November is a great month to travel: warm, tropical, sunny and mostly dry across the Indian Ocean archipelago.
Island hopping is the way to explore the Seychelles. The top resorts are easily connected by convenient helicopter flights and there’s real diversity between islands.
Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island is small, flat and great for marine life. North Island and Six Senses Zil Pasyon on Felicite Island are all about granite boulders and space. And by November there will be a new Cheval Blanc to complement Anantara Maia and Four Seasons Resort Seychelles on Mahé island.
November is the time to explore…
India – Cooling weather makes November a good time for countrywide exploration in India, where improved infrastructure and iconic hotels mix with the country’s authenticity and spirituality.
Vietnam – It’s warm enough for beach days but not too hot to discover Vietnam’s incredible culture and history. We highly recommend Zannier Bai San Ho, a dazzling beach resort for people who are tired of the typical choices in the Indian Ocean.
Mexico – Día de los Muertos festivities help to kickstart the holiday season in Mexico, where we love how easy it is to combine three contrasting experiences into a single trip: beach, traditional Mexican town like San Miguel de Allende, plus vibey Mexico City.
Reasons to travel in November
2nd: El Día de los Muertos, Day of the Dead celebration of dead ancestors in Mexico
5th – 6th: Chiang Mai Lantern Festival, Thailand
17th – 25th: Pushkar Camel Fair, India

December
Top Destination: Panama
Stunning Pacific and Caribbean coastlines, private island resorts and lots of untouched nature: Panama won’t stay under the radar for much longer.
As neighbouring Costa Rica becomes increasingly Americanised and touristic, Panama retains an authenticity and sense of exploring the unexplored.
Come here for an island beach holiday, at Islas Secas or Isla Palenque, spend a couple of days in Panama City, and leverage the city’s good flight connections. For a long festive holiday you can combine Panama with Ecuador and Galapagos, as travel designer Filip Pačes explains.
December is the time to explore…
Saudi Arabia – While mega tourism projects like the Red Sea are behind schedule, by December 2025 there will be a nice choice of new resorts for a winter beach holiday, adding to places like Six Senses Southern Dunes and Our Habitas AlUla.
Jamaica – Slow days, white sands, rich flavours and local culture. Expect to hear a lot more about Jamaica throughout 2025, notably Round Hill Hotel and Villas where many accommodations were designed by Ralph Lauren.
French Alps – Is there anywhere better for a big dose of glitz and glamour over the festive holidays?
Reasons to travel in December
Throughout December: Christmas markets bring charm to many European cities, like Cologne, Stuttgart, Salzburg, Vienna, Gothenburg and Copenhagen.
