Zannier Hotels Sonop

Given the long journey to reach it, Zannier Hotels Sonop isn’t for everyone. The ethos is very much to unwind amid nature, so if you do make the decision to come here, be prepared to leave everything else behind and just soak it all in.

Stay at Zannier Hotels Sonop

Deliciously tucked away amongst sand and desert boulders, this Zannier property supplies finesse in several ways. It’s Namibian nature in its purest form, with indigenous wildlife like hyenas, kudus and leopards as your neighbours.Observe a pack of roaming oryxes from your terrace, freshly-brewn cup of coffee in hand. The rest of the morning is spent trekking through surreal plains, before languid moments by the pool’s edge later. Stumble upon the property’s stable after, getting to know the steeds that grace your sunset rides. Nightfall brings with it the exchange of travel stories, as guests sample the camp’s telescopes and circle by the fire.

Location

The luxury camp enjoys a remote position, in the Hardap Region of the Namib Desert. Set within a private 13,800-acre reserve, it is roughly a 5-hour drive from Windhoek. Alternatively, it takes just 80 minutes on a chartered bush plane.

Rooms

Just 10 lavish tents call the hotel home, two of which host two bedrooms. All feature separate bathrooms with clawfoot tubs and living area spaces. Beyond this, private terraces showcase magnificent desert views.

Who is it for

Twosomes will adore the immersiveness of this escape, however the seclusion may be a tad much for families with young children.

Facilities & activities

A wonderful outdoor infinity pool, spa and fitness centre can be found here, alongside an antique-laden dining tent, alfresco deck with firepit, open-air cinema and a gentlemen’s-style cocktail & cigar lounge. Meanwhile, activities range from daily yoga and hiking to horse riding, electric mountain biking and stargazing.
