Little Kulala Camp

This desert-entrenched estate offers prime encounters with nature. Given the long drive, we recommend staying at least three nights. However, those who want to avoid this can travel via scheduled charter flight, arriving at the hotel’s private airstrip.

Stay at Little Kulala Camp

Embrace the spirit of the intrepid Namib Desert, at an oasis surrounded by clay-coloured hues. Extensively refurbished not too long ago, the camp calls with its wealth of adventure, its thrilling landscapes, its promise of peace.Opportunities for wildlife spotting are ripe, and there’ll be plenty of them. But they’re always balanced by the slowness of lazy afternoons. Embark on hikes exploring the dunes of Sossusvlei. Savour an ambient picnic, toes dug in the sand. Sample African tapas on your rooftop later that evening, followed by group storytelling by the campfire and nighttime scorpion tracking, for those who dare.

Location

Little Kulala boasts a highly pristine location, within a 27,000-hectare Wilderness Reserve. The site is in Namibia’s Namib, otherwise known as “The Living Desert”. Granted, the journey here is quite lengthy (400 km from Swakopmund; 380 km from Windhoek), but those who do make it will be rewarded, without a doubt.

Rooms

The property’s 11 climate-controlled suites are all impressive. Each hosts its own spacious deck, shaded sala and exclusive plunge pool. On top of the structures, there’s also a rooftop area, the perfect space for stargazing, sundowners and romantic suppers for two.

Who is it for

Twosomes and nature lovers have a plethora of experience to uncover. Families with kids aged six and older are also welcome, though private activities will need to be booked for those with children up to the age of 12.

Facilities & activities

Alongside an intimate spa, pleasure can be pursued on the wrap-around veranda, at the laidback restaurant, inside the sunken wine cellar, or out around the snug fire pit. Meanwhile, immersive off-site activities abound, such as wildlife safaris, hot air balloon rides, quad biking and sunset hikes.
