The Goring Hotel

This is officially London’s last remaining family-owned luxury hotel, still managed by the household who established it a century ago. The vibe is ornate but in a welcoming way, with just the right dose of glitz for this regal home away from home.

Stay at The Goring Hotel

A favourite of nobility including the Royal Family, you’ll find there’s nothing boring about the Goring. In fact, legend has it there’s a tunnel that leads to Buckingham Palace, though of course the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t take it when she stayed here before her wedding.Evoking a deluxe sense of romantic escapism, get lost in the hand-painted wallpaper adorning the Front Hall. From here, you head to the ravishing gardens, for a round of croquet beside vibrant shrubs. Graced by glorious sun, you opt for afternoon tea out on the veranda, followed by an evening of imaginative dishes and expertly paired wine in the atmospheric lounge.

Location

You’ll find The Goring just across from Buckingham Palace. As such, it is a favourite among dowagers, duchesses, ladies and lords. A royal address combines with a huge private garden, with flowered lawns exclusively for guests to roam.

Rooms

Opulent interiors dominate at this ultra-posh hotel. The 69 stays are glamorous yet comfortable and homely, with marble bathrooms and classical decor. Suites come with refined butler service. Of special note is the Royal Suite, well-befitting of a queen.

Who is it for

The property caters to couples as well as families, with plenty of romantic nooks for twosomes, and treats such as mini bathrobes and stuffed toys to entertain the little ones.

Facilities & activities

Complete with Fitness Room, Dining Room, Veranda and Cocktail Bar, recreation here is a lavish affair. Dishes have an accolade in the form of a Michelin star. A further highlight is the Goring Gardens, quite possibly London’s finest secret garden.
