A secretive private estate, only available as a whole six-room property hire, blissfully located in wild Icelandic nature. Remote yet absolutely luxurious, accessible yet so different to what you know. Nothing compares.
Stay at Eldar Lodge
The sky is alive with the aurora borealis as you settle into the bubbles of an outdoor volcanic hot tub. Wild nature surrounds you. Your friends and family are here, sharing the moment. But there’s nobody else. The only building is Eldar Lodge, your private-use retreat on its own enormous estate. This is Iceland as it promises to be, beautiful isolation and serenity, in a landscape few people have ever discovered. If you want Icelandic magic in complete privacy, this is your place.
Location
That’s a secret. The lodge is located on a vast private estate around 90 minutes by road from Reykjavik, in the mountain range beneath Langjokull glacier. Surrounded by woodlands, the lodge is completely hidden from any road or human settlement. We love how it feels incredibly remote, but is also in close reach of southern Iceland’s famous attractions, such as Geysir, Thingvellir National Park and Gulfoss. The heli-pad means Eldar Lodge can also be a base for exploring the entire country.
Rooms
Eldar Lodge was built as a private property for its owners and the attention to detail is clearly visible. It’s built as a home, not a hotel. Overall it’s understated elegance and luxury, as is the style in most of Iceland’s best properties. All six en-suite bedrooms are well appointed and have their own furnished terraces, so there is some privacy between people in your group.
Who is it for
Available only an exclusive-hire property, this is a premium and expensive place to stay, even for Icelandic standards. When you are a group of eight or more, there really is nowhere better in the country, perhaps not anywhere in northern Europe. You can uncover Iceland’s secrets in total privacy.
Facilities & activities
Expect discreet and attentive service, as a small team shows you the meaning of family-run Icelandic hospitality. You’ll have staff to arrange your activities, such as helicopter excursions, hikes, wild dining and exploring lava caves. Southern Iceland’s highlights can be discovered by road and there’s a helicopter for everywhere else. The volcanic hot tub is a property highlight, as is the food. Menus are designed around you and Eldar Lodge has a roster of award-winning chefs who come in to work at the property.
