A fine choice for those looking to lose themselves in old-world, historical London charm, right in the middle of the action. Exuberant, stylish and packed with heritage.
Stay at Brown's
Porters in top hats welcome you. History whispers from the rich wood panelling and stained glass windows. Vast chandeliers twinkle above mosaic Roman floors. But Brown’s is far from stuck in a time warp. This Rocco Forte hotel that has moved with the times, complete with lauded restaurant, classically styled rooms and superb service. And if Brown’s is a good enough location for Alexander Graham Bell to make the first ever telephone call from, it’s good enough for us. Set in a leafy Mayfair street, Brown’s exudes old world charm and luxury, delighting in its status as London’s oldest hotel.
Location
Very convenient indeed. You’re just minutes away from Piccadilly and Buckingham Palace, as well as the prestigious shops of Mayfair.
Rooms
The rooms beautifully fuse history with all the luxury you’d expect from a more modern hotel, especially one from the storied Rocco Forte brand. Huge floor to ceiling windows looking onto Mayfair’s genteel streets adorn each of the huge suites. Think green velvet armchairs and marble-trimmed bathrooms. Classic and executive rooms were all refreshed in 2019 and are of ample size. Suites are enormous for central London.
Who is it for
This one is for history lovers who want the old-world London dream. Couples will relish staying in the beautiful rooms and dining at the Michelin starred restaurant downstairs. Browns is also good for families thanks to interconnecting rooms and service.
Facilities & activities
Brown’s was the first hotel to open a public dining room, which now boasts a Michelin star under the watchful eye of celebrated chef Adam Byatt. The classic cocktail bar Donovan’s serves up inventive twists on classics. The smart 24-hour wellness centre offers relief from the day’s stresses and strains.
