Thailand

Thailand remains a fantastic destination, with very diverse experiences for every age. The secret is knowing where to go and stay, to enjoy the authentic and original taste.

Explore Thailand

The stunning shores of Thailand are popular for a reason. Simply put, they resemble paradise in multiple shapes and forms. Take the beaches of Ko Samui for instance, serving emerald bays, verdant jungle and total bliss. For a dose of temples, history and Buddhist culture, a visit to mountainous Chiang Mai won’t go amiss. So, discover why this is the most visited country in Southeast Asia, but let us help you find refuge from the crowds.

Getting here and around

Most international arrivals will land at Bangkok or Phuket, with visitors travelling from Europe likely to transfer in Dubai or Qatar. However, there are some direct flights to Bangkok available, for instance from cities like Vienna. Once in Thailand, island hopping is highly popular for getting around. Explorers wishing to venture inland should consider the time-saving convenience of a domestic or private jet flight.

Climate & seasons

November to March typically boasts the best weather, however it is also peak season and naturally draws in crowds. The rainy season spans from July to October, therefore April and May can provide sunshine and an opportunity to escape the masses.

Where to go

Modern Thai culture is ripe in Bangkok, so enjoy a couple nights here upon your arrival. Then, leave the buzz of city life behind and venture forth to the islands. Phuket or Ko Samui are most popular, however despite their touristic nature some exclusive spots remain. For more secluded beach stays, consider alternatives such as the Trang Islands, Khai Islands and Koh Kood. Finally, for something completely different, venture north inland to Chiang Mai. Here, a mystical world of temples, markets and monks awaits.

What to do

From island hopping, scuba diving and off-the-shore snorkelling, water action here is a true highlight. However, land nature also promises reward. Prepare to encounter elephants and sun bears at national parks and sanctuaries. Then there’s the local culture in which to tap in. The people of Thailand are known to be some of the friendliest on the planet. Visit temples, palaces and heritage sites to learn about their history. Sample sublime street food and the unique ambience of a floating market to experience further sides.
