Wake to coffee and an African sunrise. An elephant herd drinks from the nearby riverbank. Giraffe are spread across the horizon. You’re on safari, in one of Africa’s great wilderness areas, the Chobe River. But this is no normal safari, it’s a multi-day safari cruise.
Spend two or three nights on a floating hotel, exploring areas that can’t be explored by other means. The Zambezi Queen has 14 river-facing suites and we recommend the most spacious master suites. The Chobe Princesses are smaller, with only four suites. It’s a unique way to safari in Africa while maintaining all the important comforts.
Two-night itineraries are nice and you’ll have outstanding encounters with elephants, hippos and the abundant birdlife. Three nights are better as you can travel further away from other safari goers and explore places that few people ever see. It’s exceptionally wild out here, a true African wilderness experience, but also so comfortable on board.
You’ll combine cruising with guided activities on land. And over two to three days you can never predict which animals will be drinking at the riverbank, close to your river-facing cabin.
