Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne

A glamorous palace hotel reopened in 2015, balancing former glories with modern luxuries. Elegant suites, a fantastic spa, good service and a peaceful residential location. The Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa is growing on us with every visit.

Stay at Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne

Gaze up at castle-like turrets and step inside a fairytale palace from 1909. Contemporary chandeliers cast light on gilt-edged paintings. Elegant art nouveau heritage creates a feeling of understated glamour. Staff are instantly approachable, sharing their Whatsapp number as part of the hotel’s do disturb policy. Your suite is as classy as the edifice and the 1500 square metre spa will keep you relaxed for many days to come. You are in a place for royalty, where the aristocracy of Thailand and Spain are regular visitors, yet the greatest trick Royal Savoy plays is the mastery of new meets old. In this grand historic hotel you will find the contemporary luxuries you demand as well.

Location

If you seek peace and quiet then the Royal Savoy’s residential location will be ideal. It’s a five-minute stroll to Lake Geneva and a little longer to the town centre. But if you wish to be in the heart of the action we’d recommend a lakeside hotel instead. Royal Savoy is an architectural masterpiece in an otherwise nondescript-looking neighbourhood. The grounds and edifice will make quite an impression, but the view from your balcony is a little interrupted.

Rooms

All rooms and suites were updated for the hotel’s reopening in 2015, finding a neat balance between historical and modern design. We like the suites as they are residential in style and significantly larger than the rooms. Almost 200 accommodations are spread across two wings. Those in the Savoy Wing occupy the historic building, offering more of the palace atmosphere. All 95 in the Park Wing are newly built and feature balconies.

Who is it for

Great for a spa break and a peaceful holiday away from typical tourist areas. The hotel offers a lot, it’s just not very well known. Interconnected rooms and a babysitting service will appeal to families, although the less than central location could be off-putting with kids.

Facilities & activities

We love the spa. Indoor and outdoor pools, multiple saunas and steam rooms, a ladies-only area and two spa areas for private use. La Brasserie du Royal is a good restaurant and the seventh-floor SkyLounge is unmissable.
