After which, a soak in the sauna is only deserved. Action-packed snow days are balanced by deliciously slow evenings, spent sampling local specialties in the ambient living room. Location
Just 35 kilometers away from Ivalo Airport, Javri is nestled on the outskirts of Saariselkä, the country’s northernmost ski town. Santa’s seasonal “home” is also nearby, and is a huge draw among tourists. Cross-country skiing in the winter is popular here too.
Rooms
Just 13 rooms with the minimalist design style of a classic log cabin. Think reindeer skin, the smell of wood, the feeling of open space... We recommend the Skyview category, located on the top floor and offering the best views thanks to the three-metre-plus floor-to-ceiling windows.
Who is it for
As an adults-only base, this is the perfect place for couples, especially those seeking seclusion. Groups of friends, or even families desiring a stay without the little ones will struggle to find a more tranquil spot.
Facilities & activities
There is no shortage of Arctic excursions available. These range from ice fishing, snowmobiling and husky drives, with one activity included daily as part of your stay. Within the lodge grounds, you’ll encounter an indoor pool and traditional Finnish sauna. Meals are served at a cosy communal table with an alluring new menu each day.
