Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac

This is one of the world's most photographed hotels and a true Canadian favourite. No visit to Quebec is complete without a stay here. Luxury-wise, amenities & room design slightly lack the wow factor, but the chateau itself is worth experiencing at least once.

Stay at Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac

Submit to a stay at Canada’s most beloved property, where turreted exteriors are breathtaking but it’s the heritage that talks. This was in fact the gathering spot of Roosevelt, Mackenzie King and Churchill, where the trio later drafted up their D-Day plans.Draft up your own itinerary from this most iconic lodging, as you take in the beckoning of the fortified city below. An impromptu morning promenade to Quartier Petit-Champlain may strike your fancy, or an afternoon adventure to Montmorency Falls. Upon your return, follow the winding lanes of Old Quebec back to your fairytale castle, before rejuvenating with expertly-ripened cheese and wine.

Location

Perched along the upper town overlooking the heart of Old Quebec, the hotel is excellently placed for exploring North America’s only walled city. Sights like the Citadel and Quartier Petit-Champlain are all walkable. The funicular to the lower town is also closeby.

Rooms

The 610 abodes here are well-varied, incorporating a mix of classic and modern design. Predominantly elevated in soft greys, ivory and beige, interiors are calming. Gold Level Rooms are splurge-worthy, with fantastic views and access to the executive lounge.

Who is it for

A children’s pool, dedicated menus and interconnecting rooms make the property highly family-friendly. But that’s not to say couples and romantics won’t cherish the historic elegance oozing within.

Facilities & activities

Alongside a fitness centre, bike hire and indoor pool with hot tub, the sixth-floor Moment Spa offers ample treats. Come winter, there’s also a shuttle to the Mont Sainte-Anne resort. Meanwhile, guests can dine at the landmark Champlain Restaurant, enjoy high tea or sample delicacies at the 1608 Wine and Cheese Bar.
