In an area not known for its luxury hotel scene, Chenevière undeniably stands out. For this is a true château with the spirit of old Normandy laced within its veins. Each room boasts bright, light-filled interiors with individual design, complemented further by the verdant calm of 12 hectares of parkland.Your arrival is met with homemade honey, Pommeau and the smiles of staff already familiar with your preference. Location
This is an ideal base for exploring the D-Day beaches, with the charming town of Arromanches only a 20-minute drive away. Quaint Bayeux is also within convenient reach, as are other Lower Normandy heritage sites such as Mont-Saint-Michel.
Rooms
Within the 18th-century estate are 29 rooms, 15 of which are located within the chateau itself. The 14 remaining stays are beautifully set in its adjoining annex. All abodes are spacious and refined, with elegant country house furniture and vibrant park views.
Who is it for
Though rooms only sleep two, cots, dining chairs and babysitting services are available for those travelling with younger guests. That being said, the manor does have a rather sophisticated feel that makes it slightly more suited to adults and couples.
Facilities & activities
Beach days and hiking activities within nature are plentiful here. Open from April to mid-December, the hotel features an attractive outdoor pool, a mysterious basement bar and two exquisite restaurants, one of which is set in a poolside conservatory.
