Argos in Cappadocia

Stepan Borovec

Chief Private Consultant
"A truly unique experience. This 1500-year old rock-hewn monastery has been reborn as a romantic getaway for honeymooners and couples. The lackluster food aside, this is the finest luxury hotel in Cappadocia. "

Stay at Argos

Argos Cappadocia

Once an ancient monastery complex with dwellings hewn out of the rock, now home to a boutique luxury hotel. With restored mansions connected by underground tunnels to romantic suites with in-room swim-through cave pools – the Argos is a rare offering in a unique part of the world. Perched in a singular location high above the village of Uchisar we have no qualms recommending the Argos as the finest hotel in Cappadocia. A stay here combines luxury with mystery and romance, with all three wrapped up in 1,500 years of history and culture. Simply sublime.

Location

Perched on a hillside overlooking the village of Uchisar. Perfectly placed to watch the majestic rise of the balloons at sunrise. Around 10-minute drive from Goreme, 30 minutes from Nevsehir airport and an hour to the busier Kayseri Airport.

Rooms

51 well-designed rooms in four categories spread across seven restored mansions. Choose from standard, deluxe, suite and Splendid suite. The four Splendid suites have in-room cave pools. One mansion (which sleeps eight) has an infinity pool and cave lounge.

Who is it for

Perfect for couples and honeymooners looking for something truly one-off. The hotel is children and pet friendly but isn’t ideal for families. Foodies may also be a little disappointed by the food – which is lacking for a hotel of this standard.

Facilities & activities

An underground network of ancient tunnels now used as a home for 22,000 bottles of wine - a tasting evening here is a must. Fascinating free tours of the historic hotel complex. A terrace restaurant with produce from an organic on-site garden.
