Getting here and around

Toronto has many direct flight connections with Europe, including Vienna and Munich. It’s the best connected Canadian city when coming from Europe, a good place to stop on route to the West Coast and British Columbia. Ontario is bigger than most European countries so you’ll need domestic flights or a road trip to get around the region’s wilderness. However, most visitors stick to the area in and around Toronto.

Climate & seasons

Ontario is a destination with four clearly defined seasons. Most people travel in the mild summer, when the weather is good for city attractions and outdoor activities. Spring and autumn bring stunning colours to Ontario’s landscapes. Most avoid the winters, where sub-zero temperatures mean many attractions close down.

Where to go

Lakeside Toronto is an intriguing and highly cosmopolitan city, with fantastic galleries, museums and gastronomy. It’s more than worth a couple of days leisurely exploration. Niagara Falls is an easy day trip and there are other places to get out into nature nearby as well. Ontario is bigger than most European countries and a vast wilderness expands to the north, for those who dream of wilder adventure.

What to do

Toronto is full of attractions but most of the fun comes when you explore like a local. Watching an ice hockey match is just one idea here, as you travel beyond the soaring skyscrapers to a waterside city that hides beaches and food from around the globe. There are different ways to experience Niagara Falls and different lakes to explore when you leave the Toronto area. A great Canadian road trip can start here, just remember that the distances are huge.
