Stay at Rosewood Le Guanahani
Assembled like a tropical mirage on the island’s less-visited “other side”, Rosewood has delivered an incredible reinvention of the legendary Hotel Guanahani. It was a celebrity hangout during the 1990s and now it’s really back in vogue. Stylish yet subtle, knowing rather than showing off. Directly on two beaches with a level of service and facilities to meet the needs of demanding families and discerning couples.
Location
This is an iconic and isolated property, nestled on a peninsula on the island’s northeast coast. The entire property is located within a nature reserve, with no neighbours except sea turtles which populate one of the two beaches. It’s a ten-minute transfer from the airport on St. Barth although most of our clients arrive here by a one-hour private boat transfer from neighbouring island St Martin, or from Anguilla. Note that the peninsula location can be windy and the waters aren’t always as calm as the classic Caribbean photos.
Rooms
Le Guanahani is lovely and boutique in vibe, with 66 charmingly distinct abodes. All offer private terraces. A select few also have their own pools. We love Rosewood’s approach to hotel design, how it balances contemporary needs with local sensibilities. At Le Guanahani you’ll find the minibar designed to look like a vintage steamer trunk.
Who is it for
Tomorrow’s luxury traveller. Rosewood’s elegant design doesn’t immediately suggest family friendly but the resort dances the fine line between entertaining families and being a discreet escape for couples. The signature suites with private pools are perfect for couples. Simultaneously, the multi-bedroom categories and kids club make the resort ideal for families.
Facilities & activities
Granted, on-site there is only one restaurant, but the food at Beach House is superb and St. Barth has many great restaurants we can recommend. Guests can otherwise choose to dine in-room. The Sense Spa is superb and there are two pools to compete for your time with the two beaches, lagoon and Caribbean Sea.
