The vistas here are exceptional all around, though stays overlooking Central Park do take the edge over Hudson River. Meanwhile, interiors comprise floor-to-ceiling windows, plush furnishings and Asian-inspired decor, naturally.

Who is it for

While children are welcome and suites can accommodate families, the vibe at Mandarin Oriental is very grown-up. Hence, those with little ones may prefer elsewhere. Twosomes, on the other hand, are rather spoiled.

Leisure in the sky is a very real concept, and incredibly executed here via a spa, fitness centre and indoor lap pool - a novelty in NYC. An upscale restaurant and two suave cocktails joints also feature, all with alluring shots of the city beyond.
