Lyngen Lodge

Stays in Northern Scandinavia aren’t renowned for their glamour. Rather, the richness is in the setting. At Lyngen Lodge, both luxury and location are as good as it gets. Our top recommendation for northern Norway.

Stay at Lyngen Lodge

Retreat to the peaks of Lyngen, where within its snow-capped folds a snug escape awaits. Dazzling white formations combine with the ambiance of your stay. Revel in the isolation with a slow day, watching the waters bobble at their own languid pace.Explore the landscape on horseback, a ride draped in romance through this wintry wonderland. Or take to the lake for sailing, or an exclusive fishing tour. Savour a drink in the hot tub later, as night crawls in. Clink to an immersive trip and atmospheric evening, below the brilliant glimmer of the aurora borealis.

Location

Nestled in the far north inside Norway’s Arctic Circle, the hotel is a 3-hour drive from Tromso. You will be based on the east shore of the Lyngen Fjord. Beyond your door, glacial beauty and adventure abounds.

Rooms

Only 8 rooms inhabit this boutique lodge. Interiors encompass cosy luxury, with rustic wooden beams, stone fireplaces and views that look over a mountainous lake. The building itself blends perfectly with nature, and is complete with geothermal heating.

Who is it for

This is a good choice for groups as well as families with older kids, as the boutique can be booked out in its entirety. Nevertheless, the enchanting destination and the seclusion it grants makes this an equally great option for couples.

Facilities & activities

The lodge provides a full board service, with buffet breakfast and 3-course dinners. Leisure spaces comprise an outdoor hot tub and communal lounge. Activities are split across three seasons: Northern Lights and winter experiences (November to March), Guided Sea Ski Tour (March to May) and the summertime (June to September).
