"Peruvian paradise on the edge of one of the world’s deepest canyons, a haven where you can escape the rest of the world and explore majestic landscapes. Somewhat hard to reach but absolutely worth it. "

Stay at the Las Casitas

Jagged peaks dance upon the horizon. Terraced hills present a thousand shades of green. A condor flies past. Look down, into one of the deepest canyons on earth. Now look around, at your private casita in the wild. As sunset paints the sky you step into your private hot tub, for a moonlit evening that feels a million miles from anything and everything else. This could be the downtime you’re looking for. It could also be a base for wonderful adventures.

Colca Canyon is another of Peru’s remarkable natural wonders. It’s located around three hours by road from the colonial city of Arequipa and the nearest airport. Las Casitas has an amazing location for exploring Colca Canyon, a secluded space passed by many different trails. Just allow half a day to get here and another half day to get away.

The 20 individual casitas honour their natural surroundings and are wonderfully peaceful. It’s a hotel where you spend quiet afternoons relaxing in the garden, watching hummingbirds and parakeets. Expect beautiful views and the high quality associated with all Belmond properties. Most of all, expect real tranquillity.

Who is it for

Las Casitas is an amazing property that’s a long way from anywhere. It takes time to get here and you best experience the benefits by staying for at least three nights. The atmosphere is grown up but it’s still a good choice for families with older children. Probably a journey too far with younger kids.

What to do

Gallop above the canyon on horseback. Hike down and up across the valley. Watch condors and other rare birds soar. Feed alpacas. Spend time in the spa. Get cosy by a campfire and watch the stars. Complement your day with some superb cuisine. But never rush. Las Casitas encourages you to go slow. So take your time and feel the beauty of cutting off from the rest of the world.
