Location
You’re deep in the Amazon here, in the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve on Lake Garzacocha. So don’t expect an easy and quick journey. First fly from Quito to Coca, then go down the Napo River in a motorised boat for two hours, before your canoe ride to the lodge. It’s spectacular, albeit quite time consuming.
Rooms
Some call them luxury suites but remember this is the Amazon and a lodge in the wild. So don’t expect hotel-style luxury. It’s comfortable, sleeping in a spacious and airy bamboo suite, with a hot tub on your private porch. We like the sustainable approach to construction and the upmarket feel of the entire lodge.
Who is it for
People who want a genuine Amazon experience while still retaining a few luxuries. A solid choice for families with older kids, plus the best option if you need to convince your partner to visit the Amazon. Given the time you must invest to get here (and get away), it’s not worth staying for only a couple of nights. Four nights is an immersive experience.
Facilities & activities
La Selva isn’t as strong as Napo or Sacha Lodge in terms of guiding and activities. It’s more Amazon-light in this regard, although you still have great walks, canopy platforms, boat trips and night excursions. You’ll stay busy in the morning and afternoon, then rest during the midday heat.
