Walk Inside a Volcano in Iceland

Volcanoes look impressive from the outside – but they look even more impressive from the inside.

For 4000 years, the Thríhnúkagígur volcano has lain dormant. You will literally be climbing in through the top crater and descending via lift right inside the volcano which used to be filled to the brim with magma.

It’s hard not to feel truly connected with the earth when you’re actually inside it.

There’s a 2.5 kilometer hike to the top crater through lava fields so impressive, it almost looks other-worldly. So be sure to wrap up warm and wear your best hiking shoes.
